District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley announced today that Plains All American Pipeline has been indicted by a grand jury on 46 criminal charges related to the May 2015 Refugio Oil Spill. On May 19, 2015, as widely reported in the media at the time, a 24-inch subterranean crude oil pipeline, commonly referred to as Line 901, ruptured.

On January 5, 2016, Santa Barbara County received an Emergency Permit application from ExxonMobil to temporarily truck oil from its storage tanks at Las Flores Canyon to destinations north on Highway 101. The County's Planning and Development Department provided notice of the request to the public through newspaper notices, posted notices and direct mailing and received public comment on the application.
