Message from the Director
Welcome!
I hope that you find our website easy to navigate and that the information presented here is informative and useful to you.
The Department of Social Services provides many protective and supportive services aimed at assisting members of our community in their efforts to be safe, healthy and empowered as they face the challenges and opportunities of life. Also, we are part of a larger network of providers in the County, working together for the benefit of our community.
Our staff are your neighbors and friends and we are here to help you with your needs, whether that be in the form of direct services or referrals to other organizations in the community. If you are not able to find the help you need on this site, please call 805-346-7101 and let us know what you need so we can get you connected with that resource.
—Daniel Nielson, Director
Mission
Helping our community be safe, supported and self-sufficient.
Vision
We envision socially integrated individuals and families contributing to a thriving community where everyone is healthy and nourished, economically secure and self-sufficient, and living in safety and dignity. To move toward this future, we identify individual and family needs, administer state and federal programs to meet those needs, and establish partnerships to ensure collaborative solutions.
