  • The County Planning and Development Department is conducting two meetings for the public to comment on the scope and content of issues to be addressed in the Cannabis Land Use Ordinance and Licensing Program Environmental Impact Report (EIR).   • August "Dog Days of Summer": Dog Owners Can Save $500!

    "Dog Days of August" is a spay/neuter promotion being offered by the Responsible Pet Ownership Alliance. The promotion offers county dog owners an opportunity to have their dog(s) spayed or neutered, vaccinated against rabies, microchipped and licensed for just $80 – a savings of more than $500. A one month supply of flea medication and e-collar is also included.  Learn More

  • At 2:30 p.m. on July 16, 2017, Santa Barbara County proclaimed a local emergency due to the Whittier Fire and Alamo fires (proclamationpress release).

  • The Assessment Appeals filing period is open from July 3, 2017 through November 30, 2017. Click here for more information on the Assessment Appeals process, mandatory filing fees, and to download the current form.

  • The Santa Barbara County Clerk-Recorder, Assessor announced today that secured property tax value notices for 2017 are available on the County Clerk-Recorder & Assessor website at www.sbcassessor.com. Notices are posted for 130,948 parcels in the County. The Tax Collector Tax will mail tax bills in the fall.  Property factored base year values will be increased by the California Consumer Price Index of 1.2 percent, as mandated by the Revenue and Taxation Code. Property owners who believe that their property is not properly valued are encouraged to contact the Assessor's Office and request an informal review by September 1, 2017. The deadline for filing a formal assessment appeal for the 2017-18 assessment roll is November 30, 2017.

  • The Santa Barbara County Office of Arts & Culture is pleased to announce a new exhibit featuring the photography of Nell Campbell in the Channing Peake Gallery, located in the County Administration Building at 105 E. Anapamu St. in Santa Barbara. Produced by the County Arts Commission, the photography will be on display from July 6 through December 1, 2017. A reception for the artist will be held from 5-8 p.m. July 6 in the Channing Peake Gallery during the 1st Thursday art walk.
