The Home Protection for Seniors, Severely Disabled, Families, and Victims of Wildfire or Natural Disasters Act
BACKGROUND:
In November 2020, California voters passed Proposition 19, which modifies Article XIIIA (aka Proposition 13) of the California Constitution and significantly affects certain types of real property transfers. Proposition 19 makes significant changes to the property tax benefits for families, seniors, severely disabled persons, and victims of natural disaster.
While there is still uncertainty about how the provisions of Proposition 19 will be implemented, to assist taxpayers, the California State Board Equalization has developed the following website to provide general information and legislative updates.
