County Employee Pollworker Program
Who can participate?
Santa Barbara County permanent employees who are registered voters in any county in the State of California, or lawfully permitted for permanent residence in the United States in accordance with 8 U.S.C. Sec. 1101(a)(2) and otherwise eligible to vote pursuant to Election Code Section 2101 except for his/her lack of U.S. citizenship.
Need to register to vote?
You can register to vote online at: registertovote.ca.gov
- The employee will work at an assigned polling place in Santa Barbara County.
- The shift is from 6:00 am to approximately 9:00 pm
- Part time positions are NOT AVAILABLE.
- The employee must attend a poll worker training class.
Classes are by appointment only. There are both day and evening classes available and scheduled approximately 2 ½ weeks before the election. Time off to attend training during work hours must be coded as vacation hours.
Participants will receive a stipend ranging from $180-$240 depending on the position assigned.

How to apply
- Obtain approval from your Supervisor to take a vacation day.
