Voting Using a Ballot Drop Box
Voting using one of our Ballot Drop Boxes is easy! Once you have received your Vote by Mail ballot and have completed filling the voting process and sealed it in the return envelope you have the option to return the ballot by mail or to drop it off at one of our Ballot Drop Box Location.
We offer multiple types of drop boxes including Drive-Up, Walk-Up, or Both. These boxes are located throughout the county and offer a convenient way for Voters to return their ballots directly to the Elections Office. The drop boxes are open for 24 hours beginning 29 days before a federal or state election through 8:00 pm on Election night. The elections office has secure pickups scheduled for each drop box, and the ballots are returned directly to our main Elections Office in Santa Barbara for ballot processing.

Ballot Drop Box Location Information
There are many secure Ballot Drop Boxes throughout the County of Santa Barbara to safely return your voted ballot.
In selecting drop box locations, the following criteria was used to make determinations:
- Geographic distribution throughout the county
- Where possible, placed in locations in areas not covered by Polling Place locations
- Proximity to underserved voter population and lower permanent Vote by Mail registered populations
