November 2, 2021 - City of Santa Barbara General Municipal Election

This election is an all mailed ballot election.   No in-person voting options are available for this election.  

All eligible registered voters will be mailed a ballot automatically.

Replacement Ballots for those that damaged, misplaced or did not receive their ballot can be obtained at the County Elections Office starting October 4, 2021 through Election Day.

Official Ballot Drop Boxes and Voter Services Centers will also be available for this election.

  • 15-Day Close of Registration

  • Conditional Voter Registration period begins
  • Statement of write-in candidacy ends (Contact City Hall)

  • Last day to request a replacement ballot be mailed to you
October 30, 2021
  • 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
  • City Hall and County Elections open for replacement ballot issuance, conditional voter registration and ballot drop off.
November 2, 2021
  • Election Day
  • Voter Services Centers open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Last day to return Vote by Mail ballot by mail, at an official ballot drop box or at a Voter Service Center
  • Mailed ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day and received by the 7th day after the election.  Ballots returned in person to a Voter Service Center or official ballot drop box must be received by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.

  • First Day of Official Canvass

  • Random Drawing for 1% Manual Tally at County Elections Office
  • Canvass processes such as Vote by Mail Processing, provisional process, 1% manual tally and reconciliation will be conducted from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, except holidays until processes are completed and the election is certified
November 9, 2021
  • Last day for Vote by Mail ballots returned by mail and postmarked on or before Election Day to be accepted as timely
December 2, 2021 
  • Last day to certify election results

Official Ballot Drop Boxes will be available 24 hours a day, unless otherwise noted, from October 4, 2021, through 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, November 2, 2021.

Voter Services Centers

Voter Services Centers will offer ballot drop-off, replacement ballots, Conditional Voter Registration for voters that have moved or did not register by the deadline, and provisional ballots. Each Voter Services Center will also have an accessible voting device.
