Do You Want to Vote for President?
All voters can vote in a primary election.
Voting for President depends on the party you are registered with.
Registered with a Political Party
If you are registered with one of the qualified political parties in California:
- Democratic
- Republican
- American Independent
- Green
- Libertarian
- Peace & Freedom
You will get a ballot with the candidates running for President in that party.
Not registered with a Political Party
Request a ballot containing presidential nominees from one of the following parties:
- Democratic

- Libertarian
Or vote a Nonpartisan ballot which does not contain the president contest.
Voting at your polling place?
Notify the precinct officials which ballot you wish to vote.

you must re-register to vote with that party.
