Public Comment Request – 2015 Refugio Oil Spill After-Action Report

The 2015 Refugio Oil Spill After-Action Report and Improvement Plan was created to help the County and County partners identify areas where emergency response can improve in a future oil spill. The document identifies both areas of strength and opportunities for improvement based on the lessons learned associated with the County of Santa Barbara response to the oil spill that occurred on May 19, 2015. Issues that pertain to the responsible party, State of California, and Federal government partners are not addressed in this report unless issues specifically pertain to the County's response operation.

The County is soliciting feedback on this report prior to its finalization. Partners across the whole County are welcome to provide your feedback on the report and its contents. We ask that you focus your comments constructively on the County's response, including strengths and areas for improvement. All feedback will be documented in an annex to the report with an accompanying discussion on where and how information was considered in the context of both the After-Action Report and Improvement Plan.

We request comments be provided prior to August 19th, 2016, using the comment matrix provided, and that all information requested in the comment matrix is provided completely. Questions and your completed comment matrix can be shared with Katie Freeman, the Project Manager leading report development and finalization, at: or 847-492-8454 x119.
