Paola Hurtado, MPA -
Santa Barbara Health Care Center Administrator
Paola joined the SBHCC team in January 2016. As the Santa Barbara Health Center Administrator, Paola admires the wonderful Staff and their commitment to providing outstanding care to thousands of people every year.
Paola has worked in Health Care since 2003 starting as a Health Center Administrator for a Non-Profit Health Care Center in the County of Ventura.
In her free time, Paola enjoys spending time with her young son, husband and immediate family.
Maya Antony, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.C.P
Dr. Antony is the Supervising Physician for Internal Medicine and Subspecialty Clinics. She is a teaching faculty for the Cottage Hospital Internal Medicine Residency Program and oversees the Internal Medicine Resident Continuity Clinic at the Santa Barbara Health Care Center.
Prior to joining the Health Department, she was an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of California, Irvine. She had an Internal Medicine and Geriatrics Practice at the University and later a Private Practice in Irvine. She finds the opportunity to mentor future generations of physicians a greatly rewarding experience and has been involved in teaching fellows, residents and medical students since completing her training in 1997.
Dr. Antony's clinical interests span the range of internal medicine, from preventive care and health promotion to chronic disease management for adults of all ages.
Professional Qualifications:A diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Antony is board-certified in internal medicine and geriatric medicine. She completed her geriatric medicine fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles, and residency at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital, Pittsburgh. She received her medical training at Ogun State University in Nigeria, graduating first in her class.
Dr. Antony also has a master's degree in public health from the University of California, Berkeley, and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
Personal Interests: A native of India, Dr. Antony has traveled widely and lived in different cultures before moving to Santa Barbara. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
Anthony Rogers, M.D. - Family Practice
Dr. Rogers received his B.A. in French Literature from Pomona College and his M.D. from Texas Tech School of Medicine. Dr. Rogers returned to California to do his training at Harbor-UCLA Family Medicine Residency, one of the top residencies in the country for urban underserved primary care medicine. Dr. Rogers received the "Resident Teacher of the Year" award while at Harbor-UCLA, an honor awarded by the Society for Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM).
Dr. Rogers specializes and board-certified in Family Medicine; he joined the Public Health Department in 2004 at the Franklin Health Care Center, and then moved to the Santa Barbara Health Care Center Team in 2007. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Henning Ansorg, MD, FACP
Dr. Ansorg is a graduate of Justus-Liebig-University Medical School Giessen, Germany. He completed Residency training in Munich, Germany and Tucson, AZ and is board certified in Family Practice (Germany) and Internal Medicine (USA). Dr. Ansorg is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and is on the Medical Staff at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara. He has many years of experience in different settings including 10 years of Private Practice and Urgent Care in Munich, Germany as well as 11 years of Internal Medicine/Geriatrics and Integrative Medicine in Sedona, AZ. Dr. Ansorg has expertise in Hospice care, pain injection therapy, Age Management Medicine, Nutritional counseling and Preventative Medicine.
He has served as fulltime Internist at Santa Barbara County Health Care Center and Attending Physician for the Internal Medicine Residents since 7/2016
Jared Perrin, MD
Dr. Perrin is a graduate from Loma Linda University School of Medicine and completed his residency training in Internal Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN where he received the J. Thomas Mangan, M.D. Award for Clinical Excellence. Dr. Perrin remained on staff as an Associate Consultant working in Community Health as well as Medical Education before moving to Santa Barbara and joining the Public Health Department in August 2016. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and practices whole person care with an emphasis on prevention, education, and chronic disease management. He is passionate about Medical Education and serves as an Attending Physician for the Internal Medicine Residency of Cottage Hospital in their continuity clinic and has been recognized for Excellence in Teaching by the residency program.
Sherie Davis, LCSW
Sherie started working part-time at the Santa Barbara County Public Health Department in July 2014 as a Behavioral Health Specialist and transitioned to full time in August 2015. She obtained her BA in Communication at the University of New Hampshire, her MA in Theatre Education at Emerson College in Boston, and her MSW at Simmons College in Boston. Sherie has worked in a number of different roles and settings including as a therapist at a methadone clinic in Lawrence, MA, a social worker on the homeless outreach team at Pine Street Inn in Boston, a discharge planner on the psychiatric unit at Glendale Memorial Hospital in Glendale, CA, a therapist facilitating groups at a partial hospitalization program at Hollywood Community Hospital of Van Nuys, a small psychiatric hospital in Van Nuys, CA, and she was on the palliative care team at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara. Sherie is happy to provide behavioral health services and serve our patients here at the Santa Barbara Health Care Center within the Public Health Department.
Christianne Heck, MD, MMM, FAES
Dr. Heck is the Medical Director of the USC Comprehensive Epilepsy Program at the Keck Medical Center in Los Angeles. She served as Chief of Staff at Keck Hospitals of USC from 2015-2017, and serves as Co-Director for the USC Neurorestoration Center. She is board certified in neurology and epilepsy. She is a member of the professional advisory board of the Epilepsy Foundation and has served on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAECs). From 2011-12, she served on the Institute of Medicine's Committee on the Public Health Dimensions of the Epilepsies assisting in the writing of Epilepsy Across the Spectrum: Promoting Health and Understanding. She has been a member of the Association of California Neurologists Board of Directors, where she actively participated in opinions and discussions regarding patient care and access to care within the state of California. She volunteers regularly for Hollywood Health and Society of the USC Annenberg School of Communications Norman Lear Center whose goals are the promotion and evaluation of public health topics in film and television. Her research focuses on innovative approaches to treating epilepsy, including responsive neurostimulation and paradigms for optimizing neuromodulatory therapies, vagus nerve stimulation, epilepsy surgery and Gamma Knife radiosurgery. Her expertise also includes services to minority populations as well as furthering understanding of status epilepticus, neuronal injury, memory dysfunction, and the psychosocial impact of epilepsy. She is keenly interested in quality and access to care for epilepsy patients and families across the nation. Dr. Heck conducts a monthly neurology clinic at the Santa Barbara Health Care Center.

Lawrence Bines, M.D. - OB GYN
Dr. Lawrence Bines completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He graduated medical school from the Medical College of Wisconsin. He completed his residency in Houston, Texas at St. Joseph Hospital; a University of Texas affiliated hospital where he received his Obstetrics and Gynecology license. Dr. Bines came to work for the Public Health Department in September, 1991. He splits his time between Carpinteria Health Care Center, Franklin Health Care Center, Lompoc Health Care Center and Santa Barbara Health Care Center. He thoroughly enjoys practicing general and OB/GYN medicine.
Mohamed Zaki, OB/GYN
Dr. Zaki, MD is an obstetrics & gynecology specialist in Santa Barbara, CA and has been practicing for 40 years. He graduated from the University Of Cairo, Faculty Of Medicine in 1978 and specializes in obstetrics & gynecology. Dr. Zaki has a private practice, performs surgeries at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and conducts a gynecology clinic here at Santa Barbara Health Care Center within in the Public Health Department.
Alicia Morales Jacobson, NP - Women's Health
Alicia was raised in Carpinteria and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from CSU Sacramento (1983). She worked for several years as an RN at Alta bates in Berkeley, Cottage Hospital and St. Francis Medical Center. She assisted in many deliveries as a labor and delivery nurse while at St. Francis Medical Center for 14 years.
She went on to receive her Women's Health Care Nurse Practitioner certificate from Harbor UCLA (1994) and a Masters of Science in Nursing from CSU Long Beach (1996). Prior to joining the PHD she worked as a Nurse Practitioner in Los Angeles for The Family Planning clinics. Locally, she has worked at the office of Ralph Quijano MD and at Westmont College Student Health Center.
Alicia also enjoys working as part of the team of the Liberty Program; the tattoo removal clinic.
Alicia joined PHD Santa Barbara Health Care Center in 2009. She is a strong patient advocate for the underserved in the Santa Barbara Community specializing in culturally sensitive care in the areas of: Women's Health; STD, gynecological, family planning, and comprehensive care for obstetrics.
She is a voted member of School Site Counsel (SSC) at her son's elementary school. She has also served on the school district's DAC.
Her interests include spending time with her family and friends in the outdoors setting, such as camping, fishing and gardening. Alicia enjoys relaxing at the beach.
Danette Brown, PA
Danette Brown has been a certified Physician Assistant for 20 years. She graduated from the University of Southern California Physician Assistant Program in August of 1999. Danette worked in a variety of professional settings including Family Medicine, Urgent Care and Physician Assistant education, prior to specializing in Women's Health. In 2008 she completed an OB/GYN Post-graduate Residency Training program co-sponsored by Arrowhead Regional Medical Center and Riverside County Regional Medical Center. Danette truly enjoys her work with women and has never looked back!
